Seven Asian nations secured positions in the top 10 of the OECD's global maths rankings for 2026, led by China in the first place. More than 760,000 students from over 91 countries participated in the Programme for International Student Assessment tests in 2025. Singapore, Macao, and Chinese Taipei secured the second, third, and fourth positions, while Japan ranked fifth. South Korea, Hong Kong, and Estonia took the sixth, seventh, and eighth spots, followed by Switzerland in ninth and the United Kingdom in tenth. India did not participate in the assessment, while overall OECD reading scores saw a significant decline over the past three years.
