Assam Man Arrested After Stealing ₹50 Lakh From Family Home

A 25-year-old man from Jorhat, Assam, was arrested on Monday for allegedly stealing ₹50 lakh in cash and gold from his parents' home. The accused, Yash Dhanuka Agarwal, reportedly committed the theft on August 11 while his family was away. Police traced his mobile phone to Ahmedabad, Gujarat, after which his father traveled there to bring him back and surrender him to local authorities. Investigators state the stolen funds were intended for the family business, but the accused used the money to buy gifts, including an iPhone, and fund stays at expensive hotels. Two of his friends have also been named in the FIR for allegedly assisting in the theft and selling the stolen gold.
