At least eight people were killed after a flash flood swept through Nepal's northern Rasuwa district on Wednesday, damaging roads, bridges and hydropower projects near the Tibet border. The worst-hit areas were Syapru Besi and Timure, where high water prevented rescue helicopters from landing; district administrator Narendra Pariyar warned that casualties and property losses could rise. The Nepal Electricity Authority reported about 430 megawatts of generation capacity from hydropower and solar facilities had been knocked out, disrupting supply. Across the border in Tibet's Gyirong county, a mudslide hit a key China-Nepal land crossing, cutting roads, communications and power in the Shigatse region, with Xinhua reporting major casualties and people missing.
