Ather Energy shares climbed nearly 4% to a lifetime high of ₹1,679 on the NSE after the electric two-wheeler maker unveiled its mass-market scooter, Ather Konarc, at its Community Day event on 29 August. Priced from ₹99,999 for the 100-km range variant, the Konarc marks Ather's entry into the mainstream segment, with higher-end 125-km, 161-km, and 200-km variants priced up to ₹1,44,999. The Konarc is the first scooter built on Ather's new EL platform, which will underpin future models. The rally follows Hero MotoCorp's purchase of an additional 3.01% stake (1.18 crore shares) in Ather for ₹1,758.24 crore from the Government of Singapore on 28 August.
Why it matters
Ather's Konarc launch at ₹99,999 puts it in direct competition with TVS and Bajaj in the mass-market electric two-wheeler segment, while Hero MotoCorp's increased stake strengthens its hold over a key player in India's growing EV market.
