Australian PM Credits Modi With Historic Expansion Of Energy Access
· World · Hindustan Times, Moneycontrol
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi with expanding energy access in India on an unprecedented global scale. Speaking at an Asia Society Policy Institute event, Albanese stated that more people have gained energy access under Modi's leadership than in any decade, region, or country in human history. He also emphasized the deepening diplomatic and economic ties between India and Australia. The remarks coincide with global energy security pressures stemming from shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz amid conflicts involving the US, Israel, and Iran. While neighboring nations like Pakistan and Bangladesh have faced severe energy shortages, India has maintained stable supplies through diversified oil, LPG, and PNG procurement from 41 countries, up from 27 previously.
Why it matters
The endorsement underscores India's successful diplomatic and strategic navigation of global energy supply chain disruptions, securing stable fuel supplies for its 1.4 billion citizens.
