Authorities Probing Counterfeit Rabies Vaccine Batch After CDL Failure

The Central Drugs Laboratory in Kasauli flagged a batch of Abhayrab rabies vaccine as not of standard quality and misbranded after it failed a potency test. The suspicious vials, bearing batch number KE25012, were seized on April 22 by the Delhi Police and Delhi's Drugs Control Department from an unlicensed residential premises. Investigators found that the seized samples differed from genuine reference samples in packaging, labelling, QR-code verification, cap colour, and licence details. The Delhi Police have arrested four persons in connection with the incident, while the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation is leading the ongoing investigation. The Drugs Controller General of India requested all State Drugs Controllers on August 27 to maintain strict vigilance over the movement and distribution of the affected batch.
