Babar Azam Falls for 6 at Lord's as Yousuf Slams Pakistan Coaches
· Sports · Times of India, NDTV Sports
Pakistan captain Babar Azam scored just 6 runs in the second innings against England at Lord's, dismissed by Jofra Archer as Pakistan chased a 389-run target in a Test England largely controlled. Babar has not registered a Test century since December 2022 despite coming close on several occasions. Former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Yousuf criticised the coaching staff around Babar, calling them "poison for the game" and blaming them for failing to address long-standing technical flaws. Yousuf warned that poor guidance has dragged Pakistan cricket into decline, exposing weaknesses in tours ranging from Bangladesh to England. Pakistan have lost nine of their last 10 away Tests, with their only win coming against the West Indies. Babar was removed as Test captain in late 2023 and reinstated in July 2026 after Shan Masood's tenure underperformed.
Why it matters
The slump puts fresh pressure on Pakistan's leadership and coaching setup ahead of a packed international calendar, with Babar's form and captaincy under renewed scrutiny ahead of upcoming assignments including the series against New Zealand.
