After 26 failed attempts over 27 years, 59-year-old Vijay Kumar Sharma has been appointed as an assistant teacher at a government-aided school in Shamli district. Sharma, a resident of Barawad village in Baghpat, will teach Sanskrit to students up to Class X at Inter College Ailum starting this Monday. He previously spent nearly four decades working in private schools while repeatedly appearing for government recruitment examinations. Sharma attributed his success to the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission's decision to eliminate the interview stage for this year's recruitment cycle. He received his formal appointment letter directly from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow last Tuesday.
