Bail denied to Pulwama attack accused, jail authorities asked to provide medical care

A special NIA court in Jammu has rejected the bail application of Insha Jan, an accused in the 2019 Pulwama terror attack conspiracy case. The court cited the ongoing trial and the need to examine remaining prosecution witnesses, noting that her release could risk influencing the proceedings. Insha, who has been in custody for over six years, sought bail citing prolonged incarceration and various medical ailments including chronic dermatological issues and cervical spondylosis. While the court denied the plea, it directed Baramulla district jail authorities to ensure she receives necessary medical care and to submit a compliance report every fortnight. The accused and her father, Peer Tariq Ahmad Shah, were arrested in 2020 for allegedly providing logistical support and food to Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists.
