Qatari law enforcement agencies arrested former Bangladesh air force chief Sheikh Abdul Hannan on October 15, 2026, following an Interpol notice regarding corruption charges at home. According to the Anti-Corruption Commission, Hannan allegedly amassed assets worth over Tk 3.28 crore beyond known income sources and conducted suspicious transactions totaling Tk 27.63 crore. Investigators have traced his alleged offshore wealth to Canada and Dubai, alongside assets registered to his children in three nations. A Dhaka court had earlier ordered the seizure of his tax records, the attachment of two apartments, and the freezing of his bank accounts after he left Bangladesh despite an active travel ban. His wife is also an accused in the case for allegedly accumulating assets worth more than Tk 1.91 crore.
