Bangladesh Seeks Additional LNG Cargoes Amid Strait of Hormuz Disruptions

Bangladesh is actively sourcing additional liquefied natural gas shipments as the ongoing conflict in Iran threatens maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. State-owned Rupantarita Prakritik Gas has issued a request for three extra cargoes for September delivery. This follows a separate tender for five shipments initiated by the company last week. Ship-tracking data shows that Bangladesh relied on Qatar for over 60% of its LNG supply last year. The government is currently working to secure these energy supplies to maintain domestic stability.
