Banks and Railways Lead Government Corruption Complaints in 2025

The Central Vigilance Commission reported 70,584 corruption complaints filed against various government departments during 2025. Banks topped the list with 9,933 complaints, followed closely by the Railways with 9,381 cases. By the end of the year, 64,905 of these complaints had been disposed of, while 5,679 remained under process. The Commission mandates that chief vigilance officers complete their investigations within three months, though 2,002 cases had exceeded this timeframe by December 31, 2025. Other sectors with high complaint volumes included housing and urban affairs, coal, and the Delhi government.
