Bar Associations Urge CJI To Trace Missing Judge in Nepal

The Madras Bar Association and the Delhi Tamil Advocates Association have written to CJI Surya Kant and the Prime Minister’s Office seeking urgent intervention to trace former Madras High Court judge V Sivagnanam. Justice Sivagnanam has been untraceable in Nepal since August 26 following flash floods near the Nepal-Tibet border. According to the letters, he was traveling with fellow pilgrims when floods struck, and he last contacted his family on August 26. Rescued pilgrims reported that his bus was located 100 to 200 metres from their vehicle near the APF Nepal Border Outpost at Timure. The disaster has left at least 903 people dead and over 4,000 missing across the region.
