BCCI denies shifting India-Sri Lanka ODI from Delhi to Ahmedabad
· Sports · Times of India, Indian Express
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia on Monday dismissed media reports claiming the opening ODI between India and Sri Lanka on December 13 had been moved from Delhi to Ahmedabad due to stadium construction. The match will remain in Delhi as originally scheduled, with the BCCI reiterating its standard policy for bilateral venue allotment. Further clarifying the schedule, the third ODI is set for Ahmedabad on December 19, while the series will subsequently move to Bengaluru. India are scheduled to tour Sri Lanka from December 13 to December 27, 2026, for a white-ball series comprising three ODIs and three T20 Internationals.
Why it matters
The clarification prevents unnecessary speculation ahead of the India-Sri Lanka bilateral series, ensuring the opening fixture retains its Delhi venue amid earlier construction concerns at Arun Jaitley Stadium. Fans and stakeholders can proceed with the original December 13 schedule in the national capital.
