BCCI Faces Transparency Questions Over Mohammed Shami Omission
· Sports · NDTV Sports, Times of India
Mohammed Shami delivered a five-wicket haul for Bengal in their Ranji Trophy season opener against Delhi this week, reinforcing his strong domestic form over the past year. Despite this performance, the Board of Control for Cricket in India has not included Shami in national selection discussions, drawing criticism for a lack of clarity on the criteria used. The article does not state whether fitness concerns, workload management, or other factors influenced the decision. No official BCCI statement explaining the omission has been cited in the report.
Why it matters
The opacity around Shami's exclusion undermines trust in the selection process for players and fans alike, especially when a proven international performer is delivering consistently at the domestic level.
