The Prabha Co-operative Sugar Factory in Gokak, Belagavi, will provide health insurance of up to ₹2 lakh and accident insurance of up to ₹10 lakh to its employees and their families. Belagavi District Central Co-operative Bank President Annasaheb Jolle announced the welfare measure during a meeting with factory workers and employees. BEMUL President and MLA Balachandra Jarkiholi dismissed reports that the factory was facing closure, calling them baseless. Jarkiholi stated that the management is upgrading machinery to triple the crushing capacity of the unit. He also confirmed that he pledged his personal assets to raise loans of ₹70 crore from the Sri Beereshwar Co-operative Bank to support operations.
Why it matters
