Former England captain Ben Stokes has criticised the decision to leave Headingley off the 2027 men's Ashes schedule as shambolic. The men's series will visit the Rose Bowl near Southampton for the first time alongside Trent Bridge, Lord's, Edgbaston, and the Oval. Test captain Joe Root also expressed disappointment that his Yorkshire home ground missed out on hosting a match. Stokes previously voiced devastation in 2023 when the schedule was first announced without any northern England venues. Headingley will instead host the one-off women's Ashes Test.
