Bengaluru Authorities Raid Vet Clinic Over Alleged Animal Cruelty

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike and Bengaluru police raided Primecare Vet Hospital in Doddakannelli near Bellandur following allegations of animal cruelty and unauthorised orthopedic procedures on street dogs. The raid was initiated after an animal rescue group and a whistleblower provided video evidence showing street dogs being subjected to surgeries without proper anaesthesia, with some animals allegedly dying from the procedures. Rescuers found 12 dogs and a cat on the premises, subsequently shifting four injured street dogs and an unowned cat to alternative facilities. Police have questioned two doctors in connection with the allegations as part of an ongoing investigation. The rescue group also alleged that dog catchers were paid ₹500 per dog and claimed some animals were intentionally injured.
