Bengaluru chemist murder: Suspected arms maker nabbed after police encounter

Bengaluru police shot and arrested Syed Zeeshan, 34, a suspected arms maker linked to the August 22 murder of medical shop owner Syed Suhail, in an encounter near Somasandrapalya Lake around 12.50 am on Friday. Zeeshan was shot in the right leg after he allegedly attacked a police constable with a sharp-edged weapon and threw chilli powder at the team when officers tried to apprehend him. Police said Zeeshan had sharpened the machetes used in the attack and was an associate of Adil Akmal, one of the six accused already arrested in the case. The other arrested accused are Arbaz, Shaan, Yasin, Rafiullah, and Syed Farhan. Investigators believe the killing was carried out to avenge the January murder of rowdy-sheeter Shabbir, and that both cases are linked to a gang rivalry over control of the Bandepalya area. Suhail's brothers, Syed Kaleem and Nazeer, were arrested in connection with Shabbir's murder, though Suhail himself was not an accused in that case.
