· India · Indian Express, The Hindu
The Karnataka government has invited bids for a new 18.5km toll-based elevated corridor linking Ragigudda and Kanakapura Road in Bengaluru. Issued by Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure Limited on August 17, the project carries an estimated construction cost of Rs 2,283.19 crore. The government will provide viability gap funding of up to 40 per cent, amounting to roughly Rs 913.29 crore, to attract private bidders. The corridor runs largely parallel to the congested surface road along the BWSSB Pipeline Road and above the metro's Green Line. The proposed infrastructure aims to ease severe bottlenecks on a stretch where average travel times reach up to 90 minutes.
Why it matters
