Bengaluru shook off its near-summer heat on Tuesday evening with 55 mm of rainfall, causing severe waterlogging, traffic gridlock, and a fatal wall collapse in Domlur that killed five cows. The India Meteorological Department predicts that light to moderate thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds of 30 to 40 km/h will continue across Bengaluru Urban and neighbouring districts until September 21. Evening rush-hour traffic ground to a halt near major transit points including Chickpet metro station, Hebbal, and the Peenya Flyover. Local residents noted that the compound wall at the ASC Centre that collapsed onto the animals was structurally weak in an area prone to regular flooding. The showers are driven by active monsoon troughs running across the region from Rajasthan and South Interior Karnataka.
