Bengaluru Food Safety Crackdown: Shawarma, Kebab, Milk Samples Found Unsafe

The Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) in Bengaluru has found nine shawarma samples and one kebab sample unsafe during a two-week inspection of 99 dhabas. The FSDA inspected 629 hostels of the Backward Classes Welfare Department and 331 hostels under the Social Welfare Department, collecting 1,860 and 556 food samples respectively. The FSDA also inspected 603 anganwadi centres and collected 549 food samples. The department has initiated legal action against hotels with unsafe samples and imposed fines on warehouses with unhygienic conditions. The FSDA has levied a penalty of ₹3.67 lakh for violations of food safety norms.
