· India · Indian Express, The Hindu, Deccan Herald

Bengaluru police intercepted a Kerala-registered Hyundai Creta on Hosur Road and seized Rs 9 crore in allegedly unaccounted cash. The vehicle was stopped at a traffic signal near the BETL toll by night-beat staff from the Electronic City police station. Two occupants were detained, including a 42-year-old individual named Sachin who is linked to a Thoothukudi-based jewellery business in Tamil Nadu. The suspects and the vehicle were transferred to the Electronic City police station and handed over to Income Tax officials led by Deputy Director Jagadish. Subsequent Income Tax raids at multiple residences in Tamil Nadu uncovered an additional Rs 1.3 crore in cash, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Why it matters
