Bengaluru Startup Dognosis Uses AI and Rescue Dogs to Detect Cancer

A Bengaluru-based startup named Dognosis is training rescue dogs to sniff human breath for cancer using artificial intelligence. A Labrador mix named Chloe is among 15 dogs equipped with 3D-printed helmets and sensor harnesses to record scent reactions. Co-founder Akash Kulgod stated that each dog can perform thousands of sniffs per hour to evaluate samples. The firm, backed by venture-capital investor Accel India, plans to launch commercially next year and is collaborating with government medical institutions. The initiative aims to provide a non-invasive, affordable first layer of screening in a country where one in nine people are projected to develop cancer.
