· Sports · Sportstar, NDTV Sports
A faction of the Boxing Federation of India claims the backing of 27 state units in its bid to remove president Ajay Singh over alleged governance lapses. Eight executive committee members, including secretary general Pramod Kumar and senior vice-presidents Rajesh Bhandari and Leonardo D’Gama, met Union Minister of State for Sports Raksha Khadse in New Delhi on Wednesday to submit a memorandum. The group also lodged complaints with the Indian Olympic Association and World Boxing president Gennadiy Golovkin. The faction attempted to hold a Special General Meeting in Bagdogra, West Bengal, to move a no-confidence motion, but the Punjab and Haryana High Court halted the meeting until November 13. The dissidents accuse Singh of concentrating administrative power and sidelining elected officials.
Why it matters
