Bihar Records 67.25% Turnout in Assembly Polls After Electoral Revision

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar stated that the successful Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Bihar helped increase voter turnout in the 2025 assembly elections. Speaking in Patna, Kumar noted that the three-month exercise led to the removal of around 70 lakh names from the voter lists. The November assembly polls recorded a turnout of 67.25%, which is the highest in the state since Independence. Kumar highlighted that this turnout surpassed participation rates in major democracies including the US, the UK, France, Spain, and Japan. The election results delivered a strong mandate to the BJP-JD(U)-led NDA alliance, though Nitish Kumar later resigned and Samrat Choudhary took charge as Bihar's chief minister.
