BJP Leader Ravi Patil Granted Anticipatory Bail in Voter List Case
· India · The Hindu, Hindustan Times
A local court in Belagavi granted conditional interim bail to BJP leader Ravi Patil, who faces charges of misusing Form-7 to target Muslim voters. The Belagavi Market Police registered an FIR against Dr. Patil and his employees for allegedly attempting to illegally delete the names of approximately 198 Muslim voters from Veerabhadra Nagar during electoral roll revisions. Congress leader Aman Sait had previously seized the forms from Dr. Patil's hospital staff and lodged a complaint with election authorities. Second Additional District and Sessions Court Judge Gangadhar K.N. granted the bail upon a bond of ₹50,000, instructing the accused not to tamper with evidence or intimidate witnesses. The court noted that election officials conduct independent verifications and that submissions do not automatically trigger deletions.
