BJP Leaders Hold Hyderabad Meeting to Plan MLC, GHMC Elections

· India · The Hindu, Hindustan Times

BJP State president N. Ramchander Rao, national general secretary Sunil Bansal and other party leaders convened a meeting in Hyderabad on Saturday to strategise for the upcoming Graduates’ MLC elections and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections. The meeting reviewed Telangana’s political situation and outlined booth-level mobilisation and a new 'Loktantra Bachao – Bheedtantra Hatao' campaign against perceived democratic violations. Leaders also announced plans to intensify protests against the Congress government’s policies across nine GHMC districts. Sunil Bansal, Abhay Patil, N. Madhukar, Dashrath and several MPs, MLAs, MLCs and district unit presidents attended, with Rekha Sharma also present. The event took place at the party’s State office in Hyderabad.

Why it matters

The planning meeting signals the BJP’s concerted push to strengthen its organisational footprint in Telangana ahead of crucial graduates’ and municipal elections, potentially reshaping the state’s political balance. A strong performance could bolster the party’s narrative of anti‑incumbent momentum and influence the broader 2029 general election outlook in South India.
