BJP Slams Congress Over BRICS Negativity And India's Global Progress

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday slammed the Congress and other Opposition parties for spreading negativity surrounding the BRICS summit in New Delhi. BJP MP and national spokesperson Sambit Patra stated that while India appeared to lose its standing in the bloc during 2011-12 under the UPA government, the country is now one of the strongest partners on the global stage. India is hosting the 18th BRICS Summit at Bharat Mandapam, drawing heads of state from across the bloc. Mr Patra referenced a 2012 Goldman Sachs valuation report to argue that India's economic standing has dramatically improved since then. The ruling party accused the Opposition of being unable to digest the nation's contemporary diplomatic and economic achievements.
