BJP Spent Over ₹286 Crore on West Bengal Elections Alone, EC Filings Show

The BJP spent ₹286.99 crore on the West Bengal elections alone, surpassing the ₹248.55 crore spent by the Congress across four States and a Union territory earlier in the year. Election Commission filings show that Bengal accounted for more than half of the BJP's total ₹529.38-crore expenditure across five polls, which also included Assam, Keralam, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. The BJP spent ₹217.16 crore on general campaigning in Bengal and ₹69.83 crore on candidates after ousting the Trinamool Congress to come to power. In contrast, the Congress reported spending ₹42.08 crore in Bengal while the CPI(M) state unit reported spending ₹8.23 crore. The expenditure statement for the Trinamool Congress has not been made public yet.
