Body of Mymensingh jeweller found in floating drum with credit union token

The body of a 50-year-old jewellery shop owner, Niranjan Chandra Sutradhar, was recovered from a floating drum near a sluice gate in Mymensingh's Begunbari area on Wednesday. Police identified him using a Mymensingh Hindu Cooperative Credit Union Limited token found in his trouser pocket. His wife and son identified the body on Thursday evening. The body bore sharp-weapon injury marks on the head and chest, and police believe he was killed before being placed in the drum and thrown into the water. No arrests have been made, and no case had been registered as of Thursday night, with police saying the complaint process was under way. Niranjan had gone missing on September 20, but his family did not file a general diary as he had previously stayed away briefly before returning.
