Bombay High Court Orders CBI Probe Into Disha Salian Death

· India · Times of India, NDTV

The Bombay High Court has ordered the CBI to register an FIR and take over the investigation into the 2020 death of Disha Salian. A division bench of Justices Sarang Kotwal and Ranjitsinha Raja Bhonsale directed Mumbai Police to transfer all case records to federal investigators. The court criticized Mumbai Police for conducting a six-year inquiry without registering a formal FIR under a cognisable offense. Salian, a former manager of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, died on June 8, 2020, after falling from the 14th floor of a residential building in Mumbai's Malad area. Her father, Satish Salian, had petitioned the court alleging murder and a politically orchestrated cover-up.

Why it matters
