Medical compatibility tests for a bone marrow transplant have triggered a rape investigation in Morbi, Gujarat, involving the husband of a former municipal councillor. Police stated that the wife of a blood cancer patient filed a complaint accusing the man of raping her in 2020 after financial assistance was provided. The five-year delay in reporting came to light when pre-transplant genetic testing revealed the patient was not the biological father of his son. Deputy Superintendent of Police J M Aal stated that investigators are now approaching the court to seek permission to conduct formal DNA tests. The accused previously gave Rs 1 lakh to the family for medical treatment.
