Iliyan Filipov, majority shareholder of Bulgarian football club Botev Plovdiv and owner of transport firm PIMK, was shot dead at his property in Plovdiv at approximately 1 a.m. on Wednesday. Bulgarian police blocked entry and exit points around Plovdiv, located 90 miles southeast of Sofia, as authorities pursue active leads. Plovdiv District Prosecutor Vanya Hristeva confirmed that investigators are exploring all possible motives. Botev Plovdiv has won two top-flight titles and four Bulgarian Cups. Former club players and officials have previously spent time in Indian football, including Dutch winger Gregory Nelson and fitness coach Denis Kavan.
