Boxing Federation of India Suspends Secretary General Pramod Kumar
· Sports · Sportstar, Times of India
Boxing Federation of India president Ajay Singh has suspended secretary general Pramod Kumar with immediate effect pending an inquiry into alleged financial irregularities and misuse of authority. Singh cited multiple allegations in a suspension order issued on Tuesday, including issuing a work order for a broadcasting arrangement without the required approval. Kumar also faces accusations of non-cooperation with investigations into a cancelled national championship and attempting to convene an unauthorized meeting to move a no-confidence motion against the president. The disciplinary action follows a letter sent by Kumar to Prime Minister Narendra Modi accusing Singh and executive director Col. Arun Malik of criminal intimidation. Malik dismissed those allegations as baseless while the interim suspension remains subject to the provisions of the BFI Constitution.
Why it matters
The high-profile suspension paralyzes the administrative leadership of Indian boxing amid an escalating governance dispute at the national sports federation.
