Bruno Fernandes Dismisses Media Lies Regarding Michael Carrick Relationship
· Sports · BBC Sport
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has dismissed recent media reports of friction between him and head coach Michael Carrick. Speaking after United's 3-2 win over Roma on Tuesday, the 32-year-old midfielder addressed the speculation surrounding his temporary demotion to the bench. Fernandes stated that his benching following public criticism of Carrick's tactics after a 4-1 loss to Como was a fair decision by the manager. The victory against Roma broke a nine-game winless run, easing pressure on Carrick during a difficult stretch of the season. Former goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel noted that media coverage of dressing room dynamics often distorts the truth.
Why it matters
