BS-VI enforcement Day 2 expands in Delhi with doubled parking charges and border deployments
· Automobile · Indian Express, Times of India, NDTV
On Day 2 of BS-VI vehicle checks in Delhi, parking charges at authorised facilities (excluding Metro stations) were doubled to discourage private vehicle use. The Delhi Transport Department and Traffic Police plan to deploy additional personnel at city borders and pollution hotspots on Monday as anti-winter pollution measures enter their second day. With traffic expected to rise on the first working day after enforcement, officials may ask the DMRC and DTC to increase service frequency during peak hours. The government has advised 50% work-from-home for offices and revised office timings for MCD and Delhi government offices from November 1. On Sunday, 40 enforcement teams led by sub-inspectors checked vehicles across the city for non-BS-VI compliance.
Why it matters
Commuters face higher parking costs and potential travel disruptions as Delhi intensifies winter anti-pollution measures, with Metro and DTC services expected to absorb increased ridership. Government offices and private companies must implement 50% work-from-home, directly affecting daily office attendance.
