Burnley Sacks Head Coach Nicky Hayen After 14 Games
· Sports · BBC Sport
Burnley has dismissed head coach Nicky Hayen following a difficult start to the Championship season that leaves the club in 22nd place. The decision came within two hours of a 4-1 defeat at Lincoln City on Saturday, which marked the team's sixth loss of the campaign. Hayen, who joined the club in July to succeed Scott Parker, managed only one win in his 14 matches in charge. The Clarets have struggled significantly, winning just one of their last 24 league games and currently holding the worst defensive record in the division with 25 goals conceded. The club has not yet announced a successor to lead the team's promotion efforts.
Why it matters
The dismissal leaves Burnley searching for a new manager to reverse a winless home streak and address the team's defensive vulnerabilities in the Championship.
