Cabinet approves Rabi MSP hike, Green Energy Corridor-III and Delhi AI traffic system

The Union Cabinet approved three key measures on Wednesday, including higher Minimum Support Prices for all mandated Rabi crops for the 2027-28 marketing season. Safflower received the highest MSP increase of Rs 675 per quintal, taking its MSP to Rs 7,215, while wheat saw an increase of Rs 25 to Rs 2,610 per quintal. The Cabinet also approved the third phase of the Green Energy Corridor scheme with a total outlay of Rs 1,86,405 crore to strengthen intra-state transmission and facilitate evacuation of up to 135 GW of renewable energy. Additionally, a Rs 1,789.52 crore technology-led traffic management system for Delhi was cleared, covering 42 traffic corridors with adaptive signals and real-time data. The Rabi MSP increases aim to ensure remunerative prices for farmers and encourage crop diversification, with expected margins over cost of production highest for wheat at 106%.
