Cafe Mondegar Licence Suspended Over Safety Lapses In Mumbai

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration suspended the licence of Mumbai's upscale Cafe Mondegar in Colaba following a food safety inspection. Officials found that hot food items were not maintained above 60°C and cold storage temperatures exceeded 5°C. The inspection also revealed improper thawing methods, inadequate drainage near food preparation areas, and poor equipment sanitisation. The action is part of intensified festival raids led by FDA chief Tukaram Mundhe across restaurants and sweet shops during Ganpati Utsav. Earlier raids across the state led to the seizure of large quantities of dairy and sweet products worth over Rs 15.5 lakh.
