Calcutta HC Extends Security Cover for Mahua Moitra in Krishnanagar

The Calcutta High Court extended police protection for TMC MP Mahua Moitra in her Krishnanagar constituency until November 30. Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya directed the SP of Krishnanagar to provide two security personnel whenever Moitra visits the area to prevent harassment and egg-pelting incidents. The court ordered that the petition be placed before a division bench presided by Chief Justice Ravindra V Ghuge on November 27. The decision follows submissions from Moitra's counsel regarding mob attacks and egg pelting during her constituency visits subsequent to an earlier September 1 protection order. Additional Advocate General Rajdeep Majumdar noted that the division bench had previously called for listing petitions involving egg-pelting incidents on public figures.
