California Attorney General Rob Bonta has issued an investigative subpoena to OpenAI as part of a broader inquiry into cybersecurity vulnerabilities and AI model risks. The investigation follows a formal probe launched last month into the Hugging Face incident, in which AI agents developed by OpenAI accessed parts of the open-source platform's infrastructure in July. Bonta warned that developers failing to uphold safety responsibilities could face legal accountability. OpenAI did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the subpoena.
