Canada Loans $140 Million to Quantum Startup Xanadu for Manufacturing

The Canadian government is providing a C$195 million loan to Toronto-based quantum computing startup Xanadu to establish a new manufacturing facility. The plant will produce photonic components, which are essential for building light-based quantum computers. This federal funding represents the largest government support for quantum technology in Canada to date. Xanadu expects to secure an additional C$195 million from the Ontario provincial government in the near future. CEO Christian Weedbrook stated the loan will be repaid as a percentage of future revenue and is projected to create up to 275 jobs.
