Caste-Based Conferences Set to Return Ahead of Uttar Pradesh Assembly Polls
· India · The Hindu, Sportstar
Caste mobilisation is gathering pace across Uttar Pradesh ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections as social organisations plan large community gatherings to press political parties for power-sharing. The Parsuram Yuva Jagriti Manch scheduled a Brahmin community gathering in Shamli district for the last week of October to address grievances regarding political representation and the Brahmin Welfare Board. A similar Brahmin-Tyagi-Bhumihar Mahakumbh was held in Saharanpur on October 11 to discuss social reforms and political awareness. Meanwhile, the Sarv Kushwaha Chetna Sangh planned a conference in Jaunpur on October 28 to highlight inadequate political representation and low job shares for the Kushwaha community.
Why it matters
