CBI Arrests Mining Deputy Director and Two Others in Prakasam Bribery Case

The CBI has arrested U. Siva Shankar, Deputy Director of Mining at the Directorate-General of Mines Safety Hyderabad-III Region, along with two granite and mining company representatives on bribery charges. The arrests took place on Monday while a bribe of ₹2 lakh was allegedly being handed over and accepted to secure a favourable report in an accidental death case at a quarry in Prakasam district. The accused officials and company representatives, identified as S. Venkata Suresh Kumar and A. Subhaskar Reddy, were produced before a court in Vijayawada on Tuesday. Following the arrests, the investigating agency conducted simultaneous raids across Hyderabad, Kadapa, and Prakasam districts. A detailed investigation into the corruption case is currently under way.
