CBI Charges Two BHEL Officials Over Missing 31 kg Silver

The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered an FIR against two senior BHEL officials for the alleged embezzlement of 31.65 kg of silver from a solar cell plant in Gurugram. The missing silver, valued at approximately ₹71 lakh, was discovered during a physical verification inspection in February 2024. The FIR names Dr Bharat Kumar Pant, the plant's Additional General Manager, and Ashish Kumar, a former manager at the facility. Investigators allege the silver, which was part of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy-funded assets, disappeared between 2020 and 2024. The CBI has invoked charges of criminal conspiracy, breach of trust, and misconduct under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
