CBSE Class X and XII Board Exams Set to Begin on February 16, 2027
· India · Times of India, NDTV
The Central Board of Secondary Education released date sheets for Class X and XII board examinations, both scheduled to begin on February 16. Over 46.3 lakh students have registered for the 2027 examinations, including more than 26.5 lakh from Class X and over 19.8 lakh from Class XII. Class X students will appear for 83 subjects, while Class XII students will take examinations in 121 subjects. The board stated that more than 40,000 subject combinations were factored in to ensure no two opted subjects coincide on the same date, with adequate gaps provided between commonly offered subjects. The tentative schedules of major entrance tests for Class XII students were also considered, with efforts made to conclude the boards before those exams begin.
Why it matters
More than 46.3 lakh students across India will be directly affected by the schedule, with Class X and XII candidates needing to plan their preparation around the fixed dates and subject combinations. The board's effort to align the exam timetable with entrance test timelines aims to reduce scheduling conflicts for final-year students.
