Uzbekistan’s private airline Centrum Air will begin direct flights between Hyderabad and Tashkent from September 28, operating twice weekly to strengthen ties in tourism, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and technology. The route, described as an ‘air bridge’ by Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Sardor Mirzayusupovich Rustambaev, aims to deepen cooperation following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit. Hyderabad is positioned as a gateway for travellers from southern and western India, with Tashkent also serving as a transit hub for onward journeys to Central Asia, Russia, the Middle East, and Europe. The airline’s network includes connections to Almaty, Bishkek, Baku, Tbilisi, and Frankfurt. The move follows renewed diplomatic efforts to expand high-technology, pharmaceutical, and digitalisation collaborations between the two nations.
