CERN Upgrades Large Hadron Collider to Research Dark Matter

CERN has initiated upgrades to the Large Hadron Collider and its associated accelerators under the HiLumi project to investigate dark matter, the universe's most elusive component. The facility previously achieved a major milestone by discovering the Higgs Boson, commonly known as the God particle, in 2012. The current accelerator improvements aim to significantly increase the particle collision rate to generate rare phenomena. Researchers hope the upgraded machinery will provide measurable evidence of dark matter particles that do not emit, absorb, or reflect light. Further operational milestones for the HiLumi collider programme are scheduled over the coming decade.
