Chandrababu Naidu calls Jagan Reddy 'Kansa Mama' over niece's wedding dispute
· India · India Today, NDTV
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday attacked YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy with the epithet 'Kansa Mama', likening him to the maternal uncle of Lord Krishna who tried to kill him. Naidu alleged Jagan refused to allow his niece YS Anjili Reddy's wedding to be held at the family's Yelahanka Palace in Bengaluru, citing security concerns. He further accused Jagan of unfairly treating his mother YS Sharmila and sister amid property disputes, and lacking moral values. The wedding, due November 25, was eventually shifted to an alternate Bengaluru venue after Jagan blocked the family compound.
Why it matters
The public feud exposes deepening rifts between TDP and YSRCP leadership, amplifying family property disputes that have simmered since the 2009 death of Rajasekhara Reddy and intensified after Jagan became Chief Minister in 2019.
